| - Statement Posted March 20, 2011 -
Over the past 8 years Tom and I have made many great friends and many great memories because of the RROCK Series.
We were blessed with the greatest group of people that anyone could ask to share in these moments---The RROCK Mafia.
2nd to none judges and staff and just fantastic people all around.
As some of you know we have been working with a cement company for the last 9 months to blast and move rock out of Hannibal Rocks.
We paid to have 2 "test shots" done.
Very positive contract negotiations have been going back and forth since October. We were even told 2 months ago by the CEO of the company that they agreed to a minimum 1 year contract.
Yesterday evening we got the call that told us the deal was off.
Tom and I were both in shock.
In the meantime the park is a mess with boulders scattered everywhere and have other constraints to deal with. The cost to prepare the park for competition is too much for us at this time.
Another problem that we are facing is no sponsorship this year.
Cooper Tire has been amazing to us for the last 5 years and we appreciate their support of our efforts and the sport but times are tough.
We also appreciate the support from our other sponsors over the years.
The New London and Frankford Volunteer Fire Depts. accepted us into their communities and worked side by side with us to provide top notch quality events. We appreciate them very much.
And how can we ever thank all of the awesome showmanship and sportsmanship that we witnessed because of the efforts and talent of the Competitors. The memories will be with us forever. Thank-you so much.
It is with great regret and sadness that we have to cancel the RROCK 2011 Series. This is a very tough decision for us to make but we have no choice.
Time will only tell where our love for this sport will take us.
We will continue to support Big Rich and his efforts.
Hope to continue to see many of you. The lack of seeing our friends is the hardest part.
Sorry for the lack of email but my computer crashed and I lost my data base.
Love to you all,
Debbie
